Yanky Fachler, author of books Fire in the Belly, My Family doesn’t Understand me and Should I, Shouldn’t I?, was speaking at the Fresh Start 2009 seminar, run by Carlow County Enterprise Board (CCEB). At one of the largest attendances to date at Enterprise House, presentations were made by CCEB, the Carlow Jobs Club, Dept of Social and Family Affairs, IT Carlow and guest entrepreneur Julian Colton, from Home Fix Ireland.
The goal of the seminar was to provide practical information and advice to those who in the light of the current economic climate, are considering their options. “This is a stressful time for many people, there is a lot of uncertainty and it’s important that people have as much information as possible about their choices of career, self employment and education” said Michael Kelly, CEO of CCEB. “However, it should be remembered that recessions are typically among the strongest times for new business startups. In fact, it is this tendency of unemployed and under-employed individuals to become more entrepreneurial during recessionary times, that creates the steam that can move the economy out of recession”
