The search is on for the County Carlow nomination to the National Enterprise Awards 2011. All businesses who have received grant assistance from Carlow County Enterprise Board (CCEB) and who have 10 or less employees are invited to apply. The National Awards ceremony will be held in Dublin in November, with finalists receiving cash prizes and trophies which are a recognition of the enormous contribution that small businesses make to the economy. Michael P Kelly, CEO of CCEB emphasised that the real benefits for competitors arose from the positive publicity surrounding the event.
“The event has always generated very positive exposure in the national media as well as creating sales and networking opportunities among some of the best small businesses in the country”
Although times are still tough, Kelly sees signs of an upturn in confidence among small businesses. “Credit is still scarce, but entrepreneurs are being resourceful and managing risk. The domestic market is a challenge but many clients are developing a UK and European strategy, inspired by the export success stories that we hear about every day”
The closing date for application to the Carlow County Enterprise Awards is 2nd September. For details and application forms please contact CCEB at 059 9130880 or email enterprise@carlow-ceb.com.
