After many months of work setting up and running a business, students from around the County showcased their products and services at IT Carlow on Wednesday last. Over 90 second-level students participated at the County Carlow Final of the Student Enterprise Awards run by Carlow County Enterprise Board (CCEB).
After many months of work setting up and running a business, students from around the County showcased their products and services at IT Carlow on Wednesday last. Over 90 second-level students participated at the County Carlow Final of the Student Enterprise Awards run by Carlow County Enterprise Board (CCEB).
The overall winner this year, Rake Nd Grab, an innovative device that rakes and gathers leaves, grass cuttings etc and makes it a lot easier to do a bit of gardening. The students, Diarmuid Kelleher, Stewart Walsh, David Murphy, Conall Flinter and Michael Cheung, from CBS St Mary’s Carlow, created a prototype which they plan to develop over the coming months. They were delighted with their achievement and will now go on to represent the County at the National Student Enterprise Awards Final in Croke Park, in April.
Other winners included Quirky Cases from St. Leo’s College (students Hannah La Combre, Katie Sherlock, Kayla-Ann Flood, Noelle Farrelly and Yasmin Hayes), Parish Promoter from Borris Vocational School (students Lorraine Bible, Olivia McDonald and Jenna Joyce) and Le Gra Lip Balm from Gaelcholaiste Cheatharlach (students Amy Ni Fherail, Brian O Diarmada, Fiona Ni Mhurchu, and Muireann Ni Shuilleabhain).
Ciara Quirke from Borris Vocational School won an award for her Bingo style learning tool and Emma Cooper and Alison Dreeling (also from Borris) won an award for their recyclable greeting card. |
