On the 14th anniversary of the Board’s Student Enterprise Awards, all the signs are that the future of the local economy will be in safe hands, if we can retain some of the entrepreneurial spirit on display in Carlow. So said Michael Kelly, CEO, applauding the 28 businesses from 9 secondary schools which showcased their efforts at IT Carlow in April.
From the previous September the students had set up and run their businesses and having qualified for the County Finals, they met judges, visitors and buyers, before attending the Awards ceremony. O.A. Enterprises, run by two entrepreneurs, Owen Doran and Aidan Byrne from Knockbeg College, were declared this year’s County Final winners. OA Enterprises has sold everything from Christmas trees to garden benches and even though they show very healthy profits so far, the lads show no signs of resting on their laurels any time soon. OA Enterprises proceeded to the National Student Enterprise Finals in tullamore in May where they represented Co. Carlow with distinction.
